Interviews – Fall and Spring

 

Literacy Leadership Team members in control schools

  • Principal
  • Lead Literacy Teacher
  • Representative grade level teachers
  • Librarian
  • Special ed teacher
  • Bilingual resource teacher

Surveys – Spring

  • All grade 6-8 teachers
  • All other professional staff

Lesson plans – October (during visit), December, February, April (during visit)

  • All grade 6-8 teachers

 

SEC – Spring

  • All grade 6-8 teachers

Modified CIERA Classroom Observations – Spring

  • 8 teachers per school
  • 6 during the school day. 
    • In departmentalized schools:  1 randomly selected language arts teacher at 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, and 1 randomly selected teacher of math, social studies, and science
    • In non-departmentalized, 2 teachers per grade, randomly selected if necessary.  One per grade teaching language arts, and one per grade teaching another core subject

2 during the extended day – the LIT and one other, randomly selected if necessary
